Hello Music Families!
Before you head off on the holiday break, the Groton Music family wants to serenade you with all of their hard work and dedication. Students in Band and Chorus in grade 4-12+ came together on different platforms to send some holiday cheer through song. Ensembles look a little different this year, but the love of singing and playing is still very much apparent.
Wishing you all peace and happiness in the new year. Have a wonderful and relaxing holiday break!
Warmest Wishes, Skyler Roswell Christopher Caza Liz Fuller

Good afternoon, Music Families!
We are very excited to start lessons next week and see our students again! Thank you for your patience and understanding as we worked with the students, school, and families to find the best available times for lessons. We are currently working out some wrinkles in the schedule. Please be checking your email for the finalized lesson slots. If there is a concern or a new conflict, please reach out to us as soon as possible. Again, thank you for your help and patience as we navigate this new situation. We hope you and your families are safe and healthy!

Good afternoon, Music Families!
If you are receiving this, I have not received your student(s)' lesson time requests yet. Please discuss with your child what times work for them and you. Please include (for Senior High students) the times your child is already scheduled. If you and your child want a virtual lesson, please indicate 7th or 8th period (for AM students) or 1st or 2nd (for PM students) when possible. While I will consider all requests, I may not be able to accommodate everyone's and may have to assign a different time or change virtual to in-person and vice versa. We will send out the final schedule to confirm the times that are given work for you in case a conflict arises. Your student can also view which times are available for lessons on Google Classroom. Thank you for your understanding as we navigate this new way of doing things. I can't wait to see everyone in October!
Musically yours,
Christopher Caza Jr. Director of Choirs Groton Jr./Sr. High School

Good afternoon Music Families!
This is a reminder to please fill out the form for when your students are available to have their weekly instrumental and/or vocal lessons. We want to accommodate everyone and this will take a lot of time to sort out, so we thank you for getting this done as soon as possible.
Also, please make sure your students have access to their Google Classroom for Chorus, Band, and General Music. Codes can be found online at grotonmusic.weebly.com. There will be supplemental assignments and materials to complete and look at between now and October 5th.
We look forward to teaching your students in October! Enjoy your weekend!

Good morning Music Families!
This is a clarification regarding Band & Chorus. There will be no lessons or ensembles until October 5th (for 6th-8th Grade students). We will schedule small-group lessons between now and then. After October 5th, lessons will be once a week. There are no large ensembles this year.
Transportation needs to be worked out amongst the family and the school. If the student can catch the bus that arrives earlier (9:30 AM for PM students) or leaves later (1:00 PM for AM students) that would be ideal. If this is not an option due to scheduling or familial conflicts, then the students can opt for a virtual lesson that is earlier (1st and 2nd) or later (8th & 9th).
The day listed in SchoolTool is just a placeholder, not the actual day of the class.
We hope this clarifies things for you. Please let us know if you have any questions and enjoy your day!
Here is the link to schedule a lesson if you have not filled it out already: https://forms.gle/aZpwJc4UuJqBWoQA9 Good morning Music Families!
This is a clarification on the email sent out on Friday as it pertains to Senior High students.
When schedules were created for Senior High students, slots available for voice and instrumental lessons were "saved" by signing the students up for lessons during those periods. We are asking that you fill out the form with those times in mind as well as others that would work for you. We will look at your schedules in SchoolTool and the times you provide in the form. After considering them, we will assign you a lesson time and confirm it still works for you. These times will take effect the week of October 5th and lessons will be once a week. Until then, we ask that you follow your SchoolTool schedule. We hope this clarifies things and please contact us if you have any more questions.
First, we hope you all are doing well and have been able to recharge this summer! This email is to inform you of how Band and Chorus will work at the Junior/Senior High School this year.
Scheduling Lessons 6th -8th will start the week of October 5th and will meet on a weekly basis. Lessons for 9th-12th will start September 14th. The lessons can be virtual or in-person depending on the schedule. Please fill out the Google Form with what time your student could meet by the end of October 2 to give us the weekend to schedule (earlier the better!). (This is a typo, the due date is September 25th.)If your student is in BOTH please fill multiple times. Please have this completed by September 25th. Once we have the information we will come up with a schedule that works for everyone!
Link to form! https://forms.gle/KB2XU54Ft8C7X5eeA - This will also be posted on the music website. You may also call us if you have limited internet access.
If your student would like to do an in-person lesson they would stay at school and get transportation (provided by the school) to/from home at an earlier/later time. If your child would like to do a virtual lesson they can play right from home.
When in the lesson or small ensemble, students will be distanced, have bell covers (that will be provided), and sit between shields. These groups will be no more than 6-10 students.
Instruments If your student needs to borrow an instrument from the school, please email Ms. Roswell as soon as possible so they will be ready and available for the second Monday of the school year. If your student is not attending school in-person, Ms. Roswell will be happy to coordinate a safe, no-contact pick up at the school or drop it off at your home.
If you’d like to rent an instrument from Hickeys Music, please use the link here [https://www.hickeysmusiconline.com/] to input your rental info. Again, if you are entirely virtual and cannot pick up the instrument from the music store, Ms. Roswell will be happy to arrange a pick-up or drop-off of rental instruments as well.
Instruction Since our time together will be limited, we will be creating videos and supplemental materials for students to view and complete in between playing and lessons. Some will be created for the time between now and when lessons start. They will be posted on the Band’s/Choir’s Google Classroom and our GCSMusic website (grotonmusic.weebly.com).
Please let us know if you have any concerns or questions!
